It was with a poor and tatty attitude, shoes of lead and an empty cup that I arrived at Come Away Ladies’ Retreat 2016, however….. Despite all the “I’s” and all the “me’s”, Jesus, in His mercy DID show me His unconditional love, His abundant grace and His glory!! Spiritually AND physically!! The teachings received, were solid and sound, reminding me of once taught truths, opening my eyes to new truths and touching the very depths of my heart. I loved learning about the wedding ceremony and how we, His bride, are to prepare ourselves for the coming of our Groom! To trust and wait expectantly and do so actively. The practical activity of moulding clay was so effective – I was able to understand what I was like in God’s hands. I just need to yield to Him and obey His word. He is the Potter and I am the clay, but if I constantly complain and direct the Potter, I will NEVER fulfil the divine plan the Potter has for me – the PERFECT plan. Brokenness is never pleasant; I have been there, but through the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony, we overcome, so Janine’s testimony was such a powerful one for me. Kintsugi; – the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold was something I never knew of, but just like those “vessels” that have been extra-ordinarily repaired, when we allow Jesus to come alongside of us and cover us with His wings of healing, He will pick up the broken pieces and put them back together piece by piece, creating something more beautiful that reflects HIS goodness and His glory! My cup is FULL and I am an ‘OH-SO-WILLING-AND-OPEN’ vessel for Jesus!
